Month of Modern (MoM), returns to Boulder September, 2019, and is excited to announce programming curated for architecture and design enthusiasts! Founded by HMH Architecture + Interiors as a celebration of all things modern—architecture, design, lifestyle, art and culture— MoM’s mission is to cultivate a conversation about “Colorado Modern,” and present the Boulder region as one of the nation’s most vibrant hubs of modern design.
“Boulder’s history of modern design, the high quality of craftsmanship, and a desire to simplify our lifestyles, has fueled a resurgence of modern design,” says HMH Architecture + Interiors principal and MoM co-founder, Cherie Goff.
Attendees can expect to find themselves immersed in new ideas for modern living via featured speakers, film nights and thought-provoking panels and home tours— designed to inspire design lovers and connect them with the best products, services and thought leaders in Colorado’s modern design community. Programming will culminate in the “It’s a MoM Wrap” Party Thursday, September 26th, bringing the Front Range design community together for what is sure to be one of the most talked about soirees of the year.

Hitting the Road – Denver-based Juggernaut Cargo Bikes Announces First Production Run

Are you sick of congestion? Juggernaut Cargo Bikes has the answer. Retail and restaurant delivery, breezing past car-bound commuters to and from work, carting kids and errand running, getting supplies from one end of the warehouse to the other – these are just a few ways cargo bikes offer mobility.  Juggernaut is revolutionizing the process by adding electric assist to its ground-breaking cargo bike. Juggernaut Cargo Bikes is changing the way Americans and their goods move. Healthy, fun, economical, and green, cargo bikes have already replaced cars in European cities like Copenhagen, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Berlin.  In Germany, for example, over 35,000 cargo bikes were sold and on the streets in 2017.

Renowned bike builder Pete Olivetti of Boulder, Colorado joined the Juggernaut team in 2018.  “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Juggernaut to build a unique, safe, nimble and exciting cargo bike.  What sets them apart is electric assist technology, Gates Carbon Drive belt systems, the only three-wheeled cargo bike with front suspension, and the fact that it will be 100% locally designed and manufactured”.

Dairy Arts Center announces, Modern Habitat

Modern Habitat Featuring Will Day, Margie Criner, Davis Arney, Arch11, Mike Homners, Workshop 8, Pyatt Studio, HMH Architecture + Interiors, Renée del Gaudio, Sopher Sparn Architects & Housefish In partnership with the Month of Modern, EFFA & Facing Homelessness

The month of September in the Boulder architecture world is synonymous to the ‘Month of Modern’ (MoM) as coined by local architecture firm, HMH Architecture + Interiors. Established in 2014, this month serves as a “celebration of architecture, design, lifestyle, art and culture”, as expressed by MoM’s mission statement. In response to these creative causes for celebration, the visual arts curator at the Dairy Arts Center, Jessica Kooiman Parker, has developed an exhibition titled ‘Modern Habitat’. The work on view is inherently a self-reflection on the artists individual values and beliefs within their work and home life. Chasing multiple viewpoints, highlighting failures, or challenging affluent domesticity. The exhibitions consider the constant yet, hard to define way in which we build our personal spaces. Whether we seek help from others to design and build a structure, or simply relish our ability to acquire objects to fill our space. We build our homes with the desire for stability, but with it comes the complexities, anxieties, and contradictions of contemporary life.

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 5 from 5:00-8:00 pm, exhibition runs from September 5 through October 13, 2019.
