27th Annual Microbreweries for the Environment ft. Dave Bruzza: Unsafe at any Speed
On April 26th at 7:00 PM, the Boulder Theater, Colorado Microbreweries will donate staff time and beer to support local environmental organizations as many years prior. Since 1993, the Microbreweries for the Environment benefit has raised over $200,000 for local environmental causes. Admission includes a commemorative pint glass for unlimited tastings and all you can responsibly drink. Dave, or Bruzza as he’s better known, has been in love with music since he was born. Boulder’s Frasca, Louisville baker nominated for Beard awards
Boulder’s fine dining Frasca Food and Wine and baker Andy Clark of Louisville’s Moxie Bread Co. will have a second chance at winning a James Beard Foundation Award. Both were nominated as semi-finalists last year and again this year — and are Boulder County’s only semi-finalists for the prestigious honor that recognizes culinary professionals and establishments for excellence and achievement.
Frasca, opened in 2004, is one of 20 restaurants in the running for the prize of Outstanding Service. Clark’s nomination as a contender for last year’s Outstanding Baker prize was his first James Beard Foundation Award nomination. He’s competing again this year against 19 other bakers. The two locals are among a handful of Colorado restaurants and chefs who made it into the semifinals. Winners of the 2019 James Beard awards will be announced May 6 at a gala in Chicago.

Dive into the subject matter of Don Coen: The Migrant Series with an interactive conversation led by Dr. Celeste Montoya, Associate Professor of Women and Gender Studies and Director of the Miramontes Arts & Sciences Program at the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Montoya will discuss the impactful and often unseen roles that migrant workers play in day to day life, as well as how immigration policy and discourse have evolved over time and the impact this has had on individuals as well as the country as a whole. STOCKED Pantry Investment Service Launches in Boulder, Colorado
Stocked announced on March 5th, 2019, its pantry-building service aimed at helping women and families save money on their monthly grocery bill and invest the savings. The service costs $99 for a two-hour session and includes a pantry diagnostic, market tour, prep of a special pantry staple, investment sign up, and ongoing tips, recipes and encouragement. Says founder Kate Lacroix, “As a lifelong home cook, I’m convinced high grocery bills are keeping women from financial solvency. I intended to change this one
pantry at a time.” Stocked will initially serve the Front Range area with hopes for regional/national expansion in the next year. Clients can expect to save $100/month per family member. Meaning, a family of four can save $201,647* in twenty years by adopting smarter pantry practices. *Calculated with a 6% rate of return with a monthly deposit of $400.
Boulder’s premiere Spring tune-up race series Dash & Dine 5k returns
The Dash & Dine 5k is Boulder’s favorite spring tune-up race series. This family-friendly race is a series of six races Tuesday nights in April and May held at the beautiful Boulder Reservoir in Boulder, CO. The Dash & Dine 5k is a great opportunity to sharpen your racing skills in the Spring and is perfectly timed to get you ready for the Bolder Boulder and placed into the best wave for you, as the race is THE official Bolder Boulder training series and qualifier. They will be out at our race on May 14 for on-site registration, automatic wave assignments and lots of giveaways. The Dash & Dine 5k is all about friends, fun, and a family atmosphere.
