Wine Spectator awards Flagstaff House with Illustrious Grand Award 33 Years in a Row

Flagstaff House has once again been honored with the Wine Spectator Grand Award for its commitment to fine wine and its 15,000-bottle wine cellar, an award they have won every year since 1983. Flagstaff House is one of only three restaurants in the world to have earned the award for this long. The Wine Spectator Grand Award is the crown jewel for restaurants with world-class wine programs. It is given to “restaurants that show an uncompromising, passionate devotion to the quality of their wine program,” says the Wine Spectator. “These restaurants typically offer 1,000 selections or more and feature serious breadth of top producers, outstanding depth in mature vintages, a selection of large-format bottles, excellent harmony with the menu and superior presentation. These restaurants offer the highest level of wine service.” This year, there are only 88 Grand Award winners worldwide.

The Post Brewing Company is Best Performing Colorado Brewery at 2016 U.S. Open Beer Championship

The Post Brewing Company took home two medals at this year’s U.S. Open Beer Championship — one gold and one bronze — making it the best performing Colorado brewery in the competition. Howdy Beer won gold for Best American Lager / Pilsener, and Top Rope won bronze for American Premium Lager. This year’s competition saw more than 5,000 contestants with breweries from as far as Hawaii and Germany sending in their most prized brews in more than 90 different styles. Judging in this annual competition is blind — judges from the U.S., Canada and England taste each entry without knowing what it is. “It feels spectacular,” says Brewmaster Bryan Selders. “It really validates everything we’re doing — knowing that the American beers we make are accepted and prized around the country and that the flavors we create speak to people around the country.” The Post Brewing Company has a singular mission which has you in mind: We craft high-quality beers that are flavorful, expertly balanced and, above all, outrageously drinkable. These are food-minded beers that are easy to drink for fun-lovin’ folks.

The Second Annual Jaipur Literature Festival at Boulder

In its 9th year, Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) India is the world’s largest free literature festival, drawing some 330,000 people to Diggi Palace in the Rajasthani capital this past January. The festival serves as a beacon of free speech around the world, giving rise to more than 200 other literature festivals, both in India and other countries. Dubbed “the greatest literary show on Earth,” JLF successfully expanded to London in 2014, and sought a U.S. location for 2015. After meetings with major U.S. cities including New York, Chicago and Seattle, festival organizers chose picturesque Boulder, with a population of just over 105,000, as its only stateside location. Voted the U.S.’s brainiest (more Ph.Ds per capita than any other U.S. city), happiest and foodiest city, the festival was wildly successful in its first year in Boulder last year. Festival organizers expect 15,000 people from throughout the country and around the world to attend this year. “Boulder is a perfect host city to explore new ideas, debate contentious issues from race and religion to history and philosophy,” said Festival Producer Sanjoy Roy. “We were delighted with the success in year one and look forward to an exciting second year.” For more information, confirmed speakers and registration, visit

Seeking Members to Work In Community, For Community

For 15 years, pro-bono consultancy Social Venture Partners has worked to strengthen client nonprofits around Boulder County from the inside out. As more nonprofits have sought SVP’s business acumen to strengthen their internal systems and services, the organization has stretched to meet those needs. With the need for their services continuing to grow, SVP seeks additional resources to meet the demand. SVP member volunteers (“Partners”) share the belief that strong nonprofits deliver better results and, as such, seeks to strengthen their own organizational infrastructure by gathering clients, friends and allies to join them as members. Interested members of the community are invited to get in touch as SVP actively grows its ranks in fall 2016. Join the organization, and learn more about the benefits of membership and SVP’s impact by visiting for a list of upcoming events.
