Zipcar Comes to Boulder

Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, is excited to launch our service in Boulder! Four Zipcars are now available for reservation at the Twenty Ninth Street shopping center and The Hill, offering a flexible, convenient and sustainable transportation option for local community members, businesses and students to access. Two Zipcars – a Prius named “Simone” and a Ford Focus named “Cosgray” are located in the lower level parking garage at Twenty Ninth Street for convenient access to the Hop bus station. Another two – a Mazda 3 named “Woohoo” and a Ford Focus Hatchback named “Froyo” – are located on The Hill in the Grace Lutheran, Boulder church parking lot. The cars are available for reservation 24/7 to all Zipcar members. Zipcars are available to University of Colorado students as young as 18 and all Boulder residents, visitors and businesses ages 21 years and older, for an affordable hourly or daily rate, which includes gas, insurance, a designated parking spot for easy pick up and return and 180 free miles per day. Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway to Summit County, a day trip to Denver or just running errands around town during your lunch break, Zipcar gives members access to convenient and affordable transportation on-demand.

The Post Brewing Co. Releases Cans

The Post Brewing Company’s award-winning beers will be available at liquor stores, restaurants and bars in Denver, Boulder, and the corridor this summer. Howdy Beer and Townie Ale hit shelves in signature 6-pack boxes in mid-August. The POST celebrated this “can-tastic” event with a series of Can Release Parties: first at Centro Latin Kitchen on Friday, August 21; then at The Post Brewing Company on Saturday, August 22; and finally at LOLA Mexican Fish House on Sunday, August 23. The Can Release Parties featured $1 POST cans in addition to each restaurant’s respective happy hour menu. There was live music, swag giveaways, free beer samples, and POST can merchandise for sale. The POST’s award-winning Howdy Beer and Townie Ale were the first in cans with Ol’ Zippy Premium American Ale and Meathooks Session Ale following at a later date that is still to be determined. Howdy Beer is a smooth, drinkable All-American Pilsner that weighs in at 4.5 percent ABV. It recently won the Silver Medal for Best American / International Style Pilsner at the Great American Beer Fest 2014. Townie Ale is brewed to a beautiful 6.2 percent ABV with American Malt and loads of American hops. It took home the Bronze for Best English-style IPA at the 2015 Denver International Beer Competition. Raw Food Chef Coming to O P E N in Boulder

O P E N, a new and beautifully curated wellness shop, is hosting Raw Food Alchemist Julia Corbett. Julia is the renowned author of raw cuisine favorites, “Raw Cookies” and “Dessert Alchemy,” and is coming to Boulder in mid-September. Local Small Business Handcrafts for Local Charities

Lauren and Keith Whittier, founders of, initially launched a large giving campaign back in December 2014, selling a limited edition set of handcrafted farm-style tables made from reclaimed snow fencing from the Western plains. Over the course of the inaugural TenTables campaign they donated $5,000 worth of proceeds from their sales to local and national charities. This summer, a unique set of tables made from 130-year-old Cypress planks from an old horse barn, set atop a handmade steel railroad truss base, is the featured item. This set of 10 tables is only available while supplies last. Ten percent of proceeds from each purchase of an eight-foot dining table, will go directly towards funding outdoor adventures for young adults affected by cancer. 2015 Adventure Film Festival

The 2nd annual Adventure Street Fair features live music on the Gypsy Wagon, Jonny’s Truck Farm & Growing Gardens, Energi Simple solar demos, Vendor Village with exciting giveaways, and gourmet food trucks. TRU Hospice Puts on PIZZAZ!

TRU Hospice, founded as Boulder County Hospice in 1976, is hosting PIZZAZ! its legacy gala event Friday, September 18, 2015, at the Marriott Westminster to generate funds in support of its hospice and palliative care and grief support programs. PIZZAZ! is a long-standing, institution with donors and supporters of TRU.  Each fall, TRU friends come together to celebrate the outstanding care provided by TRU. This year’s PIZZAZ! theme, the Roaring 20s Speakeasy, is reprised after a hugely successful 2014 event that raised more than $203,000 (net) in proceeds for TRU. Superior Liquor will provide libations for the evening, while Vapor Distillery sponsors a signature cocktail; silent and live auctions featuring travel and art, jewelry and restaurant visits, games, and live entertainment, creating an atmosphere of fun diversion for 300 guests. Contributors include Snyder Jewelers, Oskar Blues and Avery Brewing, to name a few, and Real Life Portraits will capture the imaginations of party-goers with a portrait as the take-away gift.
