One Million Meals Served by Conscious Alliance in 2019 Through Collaborations

There are officially one million reasons for Conscious Alliance to celebrate today. The Boulder, CO-based nonprofit announces a milestone: one million meals served to families in need this year as a result of its multiple initiatives and new collaborations with national musical acts, emerging and established brands, and peer nonprofits.

“When you combine the power of artists and companies who really care about decreasing hunger in this country, with the power of our Conscious Alliance programs and volunteers, you hit one million meals. I’m so completely stoked and thankful,” said Conscious Alliance Executive Director Justin Levy.

In 2019, new collaborations with nonprofits, national touring bands, and natural and organic product brands jettisoned Conscious Alliance’s growth significantly. One such new partner is 1% for the Planet.

Improved logistics and partnerships now allow Conscious Alliance to provide two meals per dollar donated, truly making every dollar of a donation count.

Boulder County subscribes to planned solar garden

On November 5, the Boulder Board of County Commissioners approved the contract for Jack’s Solar Garden, a 1.2 megawatt solar garden in Longmont planned for construction in 2020, making Boulder County its largest subscriber to date.

Jack’s Solar Garden is a first-of-its-kind family-owned solar farm, making more than just renewable energy. Jack’s is set to become the largest commercial agrivoltaics system in the U.S., partnering with the National Renewable Energy Lab, Colorado State University, and the University of Arizona to study which crop grows best underneath and around the future solar array. Produce grown within the solar garden will be distributed into the community as community-supported agriculture (CSA) is established.

“Boulder County sees Jack’s Solar Garden as the kind of business that exemplifies the innovative, environmental, and social spirit of Boulder County, and we are thrilled to be a part of its launch,” said Susie Strife, Boulder County’s Sustainability Coordinator.
