BMoCA puts a Social Spin on the Arts
Friends With Benefits, a new membership tier offered by BMoCA, is an initiative to convene art-loving young professionals from across Boulder in support of the museum. “Unlike Denver, New York City, San Francisco, or Chicago, there really aren’t many opportunities for young professionals in Boulder to get involved with the arts and to network with each other,” said Eliza Leach, BMoCA Board Member. “We started the Friends With Benefits membership level to bridge that gap.” The membership offers up a range of unique benefits including: one ticket to ARTMIX, BMoCA’a exclusive annual art gala ($125 value) and a complimentary membership in the Modern & Contemporary Museum Reciprocal Program, granting member benefits, free admission and discounted purchases at over 50 museums across North America including Museum of Contemporary Art Denver & New Museum in New York. The Friends With Benefits program also offers members access to invitation-only social networking events at local bars and breweries throughout the year, a private tour of a local artist’s studio, as well as one ticket to the annual Friends With Benefits Midsummer Night’s Dream Bash. Now in its second year, the exclusive party presented by Crestone Capital & Cured was held on June 27th. Professionals from a variety of industries enjoyed spectacular sunset views of the Flatirons while feasting on specialty cocktails and bites. “We love the new energy that our Friends With Benefits members have brought to the museum,” said Gwyneth Burak, Deputy Director of BMoCA. “We want more people to enjoy the arts in Boulder County and this group is showing us fresh ways to do that.”

The multi-dimensional performance will host an eclectic mix of performers including a mass choir and students from their community music school, Face Academy of Music. Coming from humble beginnings, Face Vocal Band, came on the scene in 2001 busking on the Pearl Street Mall in their hometown of Boulder, Colorado. Never anticipating the caliber of success they fostered, they forged a path based on their love for performance and infectious energy they breathe into their live performances. In 2017, they headlined Red Rocks Amphitheater for the first time and raised over $30k for music education and gave grants to over 50 schools partnering with the Colorado Department of Education. “As someone who taught music in a public school for over a decade, I know intimately the variety of needs of teachers have in order to give students the high-quality education these budding musicians deserve.
