Osaka’s Brings Japanese Comfort Food and Hospitality to Boulder

Osaka’s—a new Japanese comfort food restaurant specializing in a unique Okonomiyaki-style burger—will be opening its doors at 2460 Canyon Blvd. (across from McGuckin Hardware) for guests on Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. Osaka’s owner, Koji Tamura, is from Osaka Japan and his two chefs are from the area as well. The Osaka Burger is a unique hamburger-like concept where the bun is replaced with an ‘okonomiyaki’ savory cake made with either cabbage or kale, which is gluten-free. Osaka’s will offer a full bar menu with an extensive sake list during dinner and weekend service as well as Japanese teas and other specialty drinks throughout the day and night.

“At Osaka’s, we’re introducing Boulderites to ‘a new way to eat Japanese food,’” says Koji Tamura, owner of Osaka’s. “We are the first restaurant in the U.S. to serve this special, easy-to-eat Okonomiyaki-style burger that we think will be very popular among the city’s health-minded eaters. We’re excited to share our country’s ‘omotenashi’ dining experience in the evenings with our guests and show them what true Japanese hospitality feels like.”

The Zero-Waste “To-Go” Revolution

Seemingly harmless paper coffee cups could be recycled in theory, but there’s a major problem: the plastic lining inside each cup that prevents coffee from leaking out also prevents the cup from being recycled. Thus, more than 58-billion paper cups end up in landfills every year. Boulder-based Vessel Works has a disruptive and bona fide solution, founded by sustainable business entrepreneur Dagny Tucker. Vessel Works takes plastic waste reduction a significant leap forward with its revolutionary “bike-share for cups” concept. Vessel Works has launched at Boxcar Coffee Roasters and Trident Booksellers & Café.
