Summer State of Mind

“Summertime and the livin’ is easy” has been on repeat since the summer solstice. It’s my favorite season (a close competitor is fall), and I’m soaking in every carefree moment. I can’t even keep track of all of the ‘out of the office’ emails I’ve gotten this season, but I’m certainly not complaining. It feels like a real summer break.

“Play” is our theme for the month of July. And there are plenty of different ways to get out there and have F-U-N.

Maybe a weekend retreat is in order which is where The Makerie comes into play. We met with The Makerie Founder Ali DeJohn at their past getaway and discovered their mission for creative nourishment. Ali also shared a DIY that’s sure to spice up any party.

It also wouldn’t be summer without music festivals, camping and the great outdoors. Planet Bluegrass infuses all of the summer’s best qualities and has been hosting festivals for over a quarter of a century. After the tragic flood in 2013 in Lyons, they’ve rebuilt, rebranded and haven’t lost their touch at being the most reputable entertainer.

We also threw in a few smoothie recipes because it’s not summer without a fruit smoothie. Warning: they’re delicious and healthy so don’t tell your kids.

Before we sign off for July, we hope you have a summer you won’t forget in this little paradise called Boulder.
