The Summer Camp Your Kids Will Never Forget

For a state that has everything to offer, it’s amazing that we still hear those two dreaded words from our kids, “I’m bored!” Well, guess what? We’ve got a remedy for that this summer. Community Sailing of Colorado offers an incredible series of summer camps for kids ages 5-17 in Boulder and Denver. Learn to Sail, Intermediate, Advanced, and even a Stand Up Paddleboard/Windsurfing Camp are all part of what we do to cure the summer boredom blues. We even trick campers into learning through experiential education as we help bring the physics of sailing to life. Camps run from 9:00 am-3:30 pm (M-F) and in just one week we help them become confident sailors through applied problem solving, teamwork, and creativity. We also have Free Sail Nights for the whole family to join in the fun! For more information visit, CommunitySailing.org.

Bryan Selders, Brewmaster and Partner of The Post Brewing Company, is working with his buddy Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Craft Brewing on an exciting new book and web series about Extreme Beer

Brewmaster / Partner Bryan Selders of The Post Brewing Company is traveling to his old stomping grounds in Milton, Delaware, to collaborate with Sam Calagione, founder and president of Dogfish Head Craft Brewing, on Project Extreme Brewing.

The project, spearheaded by Calagione as well as Beer Advocate founders Jason and Todd Alström, is to produce a definitive guide for extreme brewing. The forthcoming full-colored book (expected August 2017) will give readers and beer-fans an in-depth look at the evolution of homebrewing over the past 35 years, as well as exciting recipes from some the country’s finest brewmasters. In conjunction with the book, there will also be an episodic web series in which six featured brewers will visit Dogfish Head, brew an extreme beer with Calagione, and discuss the finer points of beer on camera.

Before he teamed up with Dave Query (founder of Big Red F Restaurant Group) and Smith, Selders ran the beer-making at Dogfish Head for nearly a decade, during which time he earned a reputation for unique, extreme and notoriously “off-centered” beers.

“Extreme beer is brewed outside of convention,” says Selders. “It’s thoughtful and thought provoking. It is more than throwing a bunch of stuff against the wall to see what sticks. Successful extreme beer delivers new flavors and experiences to drinkers while demonstrating a brewer’s technical skill and ability to execute fresh concepts in a way that is delicious and satisfying.”

While his brewing at The Post is rooted in American tradition and focused on drinkability and simple enjoyment, he emphasizes that balance and depth of flavor—rather than wild technique or eccentric ingredients—are at the heart of Extreme Brewing.

Denver International Wine Festival Recognized by Food and Wine Magazine

The Denver International Wine Festival has been recognized by Food and Wine magazine as one of the “Best Wine Festivals Across America.”

From the many wine festivals around the country, it was recognized along with renowned festivals such as the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, the Nantucket Wine Festival, Taste Washington and the New York Wine Experience.

Organized by wine journalists rather than a local promotion board, the Denver International Wine Festival draws in winemakers from across the globe, many of them underrepresented at similar festivals. (Esoteric wines are welcome; Hungarian wines were a highlight of the 2016 event.) The Pairsine Chefs Fine Food and Wine Pairing Competition is a yearly favorite, where Colorado chefs compete to create dishes paired with two standout wines, with the audience tasting and determining the winner. Wine tours show off several of Colorado’s still little-known wineries”.

Now in its 13th year, the Denver International Wine Festival, hosted by Wine Country Network, Inc., attracts vintners from around the world and showcases the largest selection of international and domestic wines at any Grand Tasting in the Rocky Mountain region. Its signature wine and food pairing event, Pairsine, features some of Colorado’s top chefs creating gourmet food pairings for gold-medal wines from the Denver International Wine Competition and draws hundreds of attendees each year. The 2017 Denver International Wine Festival will take place November 1-3 at the Denver Marriott Westminster. DenverWineFest.com

Colorado’s Premiere Yoga Festival Announces 2017 Yoga Lineup

Hanuman Festival announces the addition of internationally-renowned yoga teacher Seane Corn to the 2017 line-up. The festival, scheduled June 15 – 18, is held in beautiful Boulder, CO and features more than 25 yoga teachers including Rod Stryker, Annie Carpenter, Amy Ippoliti, Sianna Sherman, Saul David Raye, Janet Stone, Anand Mehrotra, Gina Caputo, Nicki Doane, Elijah Ray and Mary Clare Sweet.

The Colorado yoga festival landscape is dramatically different this year: Wanderlust Aspen and Yoga Journal LIVE! Estes Park will not host events in 2017, giving way for Hanuman Festival to be the premiere yoga festival. Despite the shifts, Hanuman Festival believes people need yoga now more than ever and is eager to host the seventh annual national reunion of yogis, promising a vibrant and transformational experience for the thousands of health-conscious attendees who flock to Colorado for this one-of-a-kind festival.

Located on the scenic grounds of the Boulder High School’s great lawn next to Boulder Creek, adjacent to the Boulder Farmer’s Market, Hanuman Festival features yoga classes Thursday – Sunday. The Vendor Village, presented by SunMountain Center, will feature over thirty conscious exhibitors and sponsors selling and sampling everything from clothing to jewelry to art and food. Yogis can gather in the SunWatering Hole to relax, eat and chill with their tribe. The Community Tent will host a daily community yoga class, musical acts, panel discussions and inspirational talks throughout the day. Ceremonies are scheduled throughout the weekend to unite community together and designed to honor the heritage and celebration aspects of yoga. Friday and Saturday night festivities will feature music by Elijah Ray, Jaya Lakshmi & Ananda Yogiji, Saul David Raye and other renowned artists.

Hanuman Festival creates safe and sacred space for the conscious community to learn and grow, so we may uplift and inspire the world. “Hanuman Festival is committed to its hometown roots, as we grow as a healthy, conscious lifestyle event,” said Festival Director Yoshi Aono. “Through internationally-renowned teachers and leaders in the worldwide movement for conscious living, Hanuman expects to attract thousands of participants from across the nation.” HanumanFestival.com
