Where did you grow up?
As a kid, my family moved every few years, so I grew up a bit of a gypsy. We moved from Connecticut to Tokyo to New York, and to Texas three separate times. Thankfully the accent never stuck. When I came to Boulder to go to college in 1986, I knew I was home. I left briefly in 1990 but Niwot’s Curse pulled me back, and I will forever be grateful.
How did Steve Remmert Group start?
For many years, I was involved with graphic design and marketing. During that same time, I had also renovated a few houses. I loved both and felt that being involved in real estate was a good combination of those skills. So I jumped in feet first and never looked back.
What do you do for fun in Boulder or Colorado?
Apart from spending time with my wonderful wife, my amazing 13-year-old daughter and our two four legged friends. I love doing most anything that involves a hill—be it skiing, biking, hiking. If I am going up hill or down, I am usually having fun.
What’s your favorite quote?
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is today.” –Confucius
Most treasured item?
I play lots of music and love all of my instruments, even though my wife says I have too many of them. She is right about most things, but in this case, she is wrong.
What quality do you admire most in other people?
I love when I come across people who are full of enthusiasm and passions for unexpected things. Especially as adults, it’s easy to define ourselves or be defined by our jobs or our kids. I love when I hear about someone doing something completely unrelated and unexpected.
Your favorite holiday destination?
Boulder. I know it sounds cheesy, but I really love it here, and I get poked fun of for seldom leaving, but when you live in paradise, why leave … I am told that going to the beach is nice too!
The best thing to do in the summer is?
Be outside with friends and family.
