Medical and Nutritional Hemp on the Rise
Cherie Arnold, a visionary force in the cosmetics, nutraceutical and natural products industry, announced the launch of MediQI Energetics®, a new, premium line of cannabidiol (CBD)-infused health and wellness solutions. Though derived from the hemp plant, CBD is the sober, non-psychoactive cannabinoid with beneficial health and supplement properties. The human body contains trillions of cannabinoid receptor sites which, when activated, create a heightened sense of wellbeing and balance. CBD can be ingested orally or applied topically through the skin.
Indeed, CBD products now span far outside the hemp industry, and MediQI® is pioneering a new wave of formulations for the health and beauty sectors. The company has developed a proprietary formulation that delivers pure CBD extract in a nutrient-dense, bio-available liquid easily absorbed by the body. Its premium CBD-infused products will be launched this fall in limited edition through a variety of marketing and direct sell channels. MediQI®’s innovative products help people experience their innate sense of well-being and healthy life balance. The woman-owned company is developing highly functional, nutritional, naturopathic products that help to repair health, enhance energy and sustain a prime effect on the body’s physiology.
GoodBird Kitchen Coming to Longmont
The Big Red F Restaurant Group will open its first GoodBird Kitchen (GBK) late this fall at 1268 Hover Road in Longmont. GBK, the little-irreverent-younger brother to The Post Brewing Company in Lafayette, will serve the trademark chicken & fixin’s, award-winning beer and fresh made pies that have made The POST a popular East County destination since opening in 2014.
Dining rooms will be big on fun and comfort with large patios and fireplaces. Prices will start at $7 for the universally famous fried chicken sandwich and top out at $13 for platters which include sides and a biscuit. Buckets of chicken and big family meals built to-go will be available from the walk-up to-go window. GoodBird Kitchen will feature can and draft beers produced exclusively by Brewmaster/Partner Bryan Selders of The Post Brewing Company as well as many limited editions and specialty brews. The food will be at the hand of Chef/Partner Brett Smith, who has been working tirelessly to perfect this bird and all the farm fresh sides that have made the POST kitchen what it is.
Boulder Green Home Tour
Local non-profits The Colorado Green Building Guild and The Colorado Renewable Energy Society were proud to present the inaugural Boulder Green Home Tour, which took place on Saturday, September 26th. People from Boulder and surrounding areas were invited to tour the community and to step inside some amazing green homes. The homes included a wide variety of sustainable aspects including passive solar design, ground source heat pumps, solar energy systems, alternative insulation materials, the latest in window technology, non-toxic, renewable and recycled materials, water conserving plumbing and landscaping, and much more. Some of the homes were among the greenest in the nation and include LEED Platinum, Net Zero Energy and even “regenerative housing“ (making more energy than it consumes).
The purpose of the Boulder Green Home Tour is to highlight some of the most innovative green building projects in Boulder and to help promote the collaborative exchange of ideas on green building in our community. One unique aspect of this years’ event was the partnership with Flatirons Habitat for Humanity to showcase one of their latest sustainable homes and donating 10 percent of the proceeds to their local projects.
Golden West Celebrates 50 Years
Founded by First Christian Church of Boulder in 1965, Golden West is celebrating 50 years of serving Boulder seniors. A nonprofit organization, but no longer affiliated with the church, Golden West’s mission is to provide people 62+ with affordable housing and services in Boulder. Built before the city’s 55-foot height restriction, Golden West opened its doors with an 11-story tower in 1965, comprised of independent living apartments. Realizing the need for more affordable independent living housing in Boulder, an adjacent 14-story tower was built several years later. In 1989, Golden West expanded its campus and services to include The Mezzanine, a wing designed for assisted living.
Within the walls, Golden West fosters a strong sense of community. By offering a variety of meaningful planned events, residents are encouraged to stay both socially and physically active. “The community here is like nothing else,” says Director of Resident Operations Heidi Marchi. “People feel at home.” Golden West is a unique and important senior community that is 50 years in the making, and it is committed to continue serving the needs of seniors for the next 50 years.
